New general Artist Recovery Fund!

Independent Arts & Media has launched a new Emergency Recovery Fund, As one of the Fund’s inaugural campaigns, IAM will use monies raised to fund grants to directly support artists adversely impacted by the August 9, 2019 fire at the m0xy arts facility in Oakland, California (KQED, Aug. 15, 2019).

Resources for those affected by the fire

Below is a general list of resources for those affected by the fire Friday, August 9th at M0XY.

These resources are available by referral for the most part.

If you are M0XY tenant affected by the fire, email [email protected] for a direct referral. Also if you don’t see the resources you are looking for here, please don’t hesitate to speak up with what you need. We will do our best to connect people in proper Bay Area style.

Shop Access

The following is a list of spaces offering short-term shop access via scholarships.

  • Ace Monster Toys Makerspace – North Oakland
  • Bridge Storage and Artspace – Richmond
  • Humanmade – San Francisco (contact Rachel Sadd or Ryan Montgomery)
  • Circuit Launch – South Oakland

The following is a list of possible places to get back to work

Logistics for donations of tools

Bridge Storage and Artspace have offered us a 10×10 Storage unit to store donated tools for the next month. They have also offered to receive those donations during regular business hours. Folks can then arrange to pick up by emails Rachel at [email protected].

Send your tool wishlist to [email protected] and we are happy to get the word out and be able to connect you with good or excellent condition donations.

Possible Benefits resources

Many people in the community have offered resources for throwing a benefit to get folks back on their feet as soon as possible. We will be looking to hold a town hall soon to forward those efforts as appropriate.

Single Boosting
