Filma Art Collective

We’re a small group of disparately minded artists. While we’re all independently minded, we also recognize the value of working together which involves both collective art pieces and hosting art events. Right now we’re building ourselves a community where we can thrive both together and apart, though it should be noted we’d like to keep our community smaller as we appreciate a more intimate vibe.

Hello Stitch Studio

Hello Stitch is a community-based textile studio that offers workshops, communal work space, a gallery space, and community events. We also provide domestic and industrial sewing machine sales and quilt finishing services. We believe that learning how to sew is about building skills. At Hello Stitch, we will help you build these skills and give you the space, tools and support you’ll need to love what you create!

Department of Spontaneous Combustion

Department of Spontaneous Combustion is a non-profit collective of artists, fabricators, and makers helping to keep Oakland weird and lower the barrier to entry for industrial arts since 2005. We operate a metal shop space primarily outfitted for welding steel and fabrication of sculpture and propane flame effects. We teach introductory welding and metal working classes in partnership with Ace Monster Toys. Tooling capabilities include MIG, TIG, & stick welders, oxy-fuel & plasma cutters, tube benders, sheet brake, powder coating, bead roller, mill, lathe, basic pneumatic and electric hand tools, and equipment for moving heavy things.
